RPA To Host Charity Fund Raiser

The Radiant Panel Association is adding some fun and social generosity to their upcoming REXperience conference and trade show in Utica, New York, May 27-29.  Two separate charity fund raising events are planned to both entertain attendees and benefit some worthwhile charities.

On Friday, May 29, at the Valley View Golf Club in Utica, the 1st Annual Radiant Panel Association Golf Outing will be held. All of the proceeds from this event will benefit The Lowe Fund to provide scholarships and assistance to the next generation of radiant technicians.

The Lowe Fund is a tribute to loyal Radiant Panel Association members who have shown outstanding support for the organization over the years. Ted Lowe is an exceptional example of such a member. He has served four terms as President of the RPA, is a RPA Certified Installer and Designer and a RPA Authorized Instructor who has donated his time teaching RPA classes.  Ted is a cancer survivor and is the inspiration for the Lowe Fund.

A live auction is scheduled for Friday evening following the Golf Outing during the evening meal.  It will be held on the Mohawk Valley Community College campus as a part of RPA’s REXperience.  A sundry of donated items will be auctioned off at a lively event to the fun and amusement of everyone in attendance.  Sponsors of the donated items are encouraged to be creative with their donations to enhance the enjoyment of the evening.

Proceeds from the auction will be split between a local charity, Hope House and the RPA.   The Hope House is currently engaged in a new building project which radiant heat will be utilized. Established in 1992, Hope House served over 80,000 people. The hungry and homeless of the inner-city Utica area have come to rely upon at least one daily meal at Hope House. Hope House has also provided countless hours of safe haven from the streets for the people who are their guests, many of whom feel that they come to Hope House to be with "Family". Hope House also helps their guests find the other resources in the community that they may need to make their lives bearable.

Why hold the event in Utica, New York?  Unlike the REX events of the past, the 2009 Radiant Panel Association Conference is being held in a whole new venue; a college campus.  Not just any campus, but the campus where well-known John “Siggy” Siegenthaler has taught hydronics for years.  The event is titled REXperience to reflect a new experience in RPA conferences. There are great classrooms for seminars, cafeteria-style meals and plenty of recreational facilities.  The campus experience includes the opportunity to stay in dorms for a very reasonable price.  Area hotels are also available.

Rather than the typical large hall of exhibitor booths, the 2009 event will have forty tabletop displays in the IT Building and a number of outdoor displays, including a big top tent, housing local exhibitors. The exhibits will be open Friday evening and for five hours on Saturday.

For those who want continuing education, the new RADIANT I & II,  as well as RADIANT PRECISIOIN courses will be taught Wednesday and Thursday prior to the conference.  These courses have recently been completely updated and revised.

The Radiant Panel Association is a nonprofit trade organization dedicated to advancement of radiant heating and cooling.  Its membership is made up of contractors, wholesalers, sales reps, manufactures and professionals who have keen interest in radiant technology.
