    A. O. Smith Corporation, Milwaukee, WI, has announced the following executive appointments:
    Patricia K. Ackerman named vice president and treasurer. Ackerman will be responsible for ensuring adequate funding capacity for the corporation and its subsidiaries, managing relationships with the financial community, managing global cash and foreign exchange exposures, overseeing investment of pension assets, and managing real estate.
    Kenneth J. Maciolek has been named vice president, associate general counsel, and assistant secretary. His responsibilities include the areas of international law, antitrust law, employment and employee benefits law, business transactions, and counseling.
    Jane M. Sanford is A.O. Smith's new vice president-global human resources and organizational development. Sanford will be responsible for all human resources-related process and programs and will continue to provide support to the company's operating units. In addition, she will be responsible for all training, education, and development programs as well as leadership development and succession planning.
    Craig R. Watson has been named vice president-investor relations. Watson joined A. O. Smith as director-investor relations in 1996, responsible for all investor and shareholder relations for the company.
    Thomas J. Olander is A.O. Smith’s first vice president of global compensation, benefits, and payroll. Olander will be responsible for all of A.O. Smith’s global compensation and benefit programs, as well as managing the U. S. payroll function. The company has a worldwide payroll of 19,500.
