The Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI), Arlington, VA has revised three standards and one guideline.

ARI Standard 210/240-2003, “Unitary Air Conditioning and Air Source Heat Pump Equipment,” ARI Standard 365-2002, “Commercial and Industrial Unitary Air Conditioning Condensing Units,” and ARI Guideline A-2003, “Energy Management Systems and Load Management Through Duty Cycling,” have been revised and are available for free download at www.ari.org.

An addendum has also been added to ARI Standard 400-2001, “Liquid to Liquid Heat Exchangers,” which can also be downloaded for free at ARI’s Web site.

Standard 210/240-2003 is intended for the guidance of the industry, including manufacturers, engineers, installers, contractors and users, and it establishes for unitary air conditioners and air source unitary heat pumps: definitions; classifications; test requirements; rating requirements; minimum data requirements for published ratings; operating requirements; marking and nameplate data; and conformance conditions.

Standard 365-2002 applies to factory made commercial and industrial unitary air conditioning condensing units greater than or equal to 135,000 Btu/h (39.6 kW).

ARI Guideline A identifies some of the issues that need to be considered when installing and operating energy management devices to control heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment in residential, commercial and industrial buildings. This guideline applies to the installation and operation of energy management systems to control heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment in all applications; residential, commercial and industrial buildings.

ARI Standard 400-2001 establishes for liquid to liquid heat exchangers: definitions; test requirements; rating requirements; minimum data requirements for published ratings; marking and nameplate data; and conformance conditions.
