• Carrier to Embark on Sustainability Tour

    March 23, 2010
    Continuing education credits will apply

Carrier Corporation will share its expertise and promote environmentally sound buildings of the future during a multi-city U.S. Sustainability Symposium tour designed specifically for consulting engineers, design-build contractors and facility managers. The one-day symposium in each city offers the latest in high-performance sustainable designs as well as continuing education credits for attendees. Carrier Corp. is a unit of United Technologies Corp.

Carrier designed the symposiums to allow industry professionals to obtain and easily apply building and design ideas for sustainable high-performance buildings. Each symposium will provide information and standards from ASHRAE and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Version Three. Attendees will also be able to claim up to six continuing education units for professional licenses as well as continuing education hours for LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP) credential maintenance. Carrier Sustainability Symposiums are offered through Carrier University, a global heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) continuing education program.

“Buildings consume 40% of total energy and are a large source of greenhouse gas emissions that affect climate change,” says John Mandyck, Carrier’s vice president for sustainability and environmental strategies. “These symposiums allow us to share our global expertise in sustainability and environmental leadership with our customers to assist in the construction and maintenance of high performance buildings so that, together, we can reduce greenhouse gas emissions.”

Carrier has a decades-long history of proactive environmental stewardship and is the only company in the world to be a founding member of the U.S., India and China Green Building Councils.

Through Carrier University, attendees will have access to online learning exercises that enhance the topics covered at the Sustainability Symposiums. Carrier’s 18-wheel Mobile Innovation Center will also be on display at each Symposium location, providing attendees with a hands-on, up-close look at the company’s environmentally sound products and energy services offerings.
