Clarcor Inc. received a hearty welcome as it dedicated its new manufacturing and distribution center in Pittston, PA, in an event attended by company management and a representative of the Governor's Action Team.
The facility is located at 1001 Sathers Drive, Grimes Industrial Park, in Pittston. Clarcor Air Filtration Products (CLC Air), a subsidiary of Clarcor, began operations at the new location in May.
Members of the business community toured the facility, and presentations were made by David White, marketing manager, Clarcor, Inc., Dan Newman, plant manager, Kevin Bush, senior vice president of operations, Stephen Yokimishyn, regional director for the Governor’s Action Team, Northeast Regional Office, and Norman E. Johnson, chairman, president and CEO, Clarcor, Inc.
Clarcor manufactures and sells air filtration products and systems through a variety of distribution channels under such well-known brands as Purolator, ATI, and Airguard.
Clarcor is a diversified marketer and manufacturer of mobile, industrial and environmental filtration products and consumer and industrial packaging products sold in domestic and international markets.
“On behalf of Governor Edward G. Rendell, I am pleased to say that working with CLARCOR to make this project a reality is just one example of the success the Commonwealth has had in recruiting new business and industry to Northeast Pennsylvania. We welcome Clarcor as a new tenant to Pittston, bringing great jobs and new opportunities to our region,” says Yokimishyn.
The 249,600-square-foot manufacturing and distribution facility employs 25 and anticipates employing 100 over the next six months.
The company is leasing the facility from First Industrial Realty Trust, Inc., one of the nation’s largest providers of diversified industrial real estate.
“We are delighted to welcome CLARCOR, Inc. to the greater Pittston area," says Mareen Mangan Mills, president, The Greater Pittston Chamber of Commerce. "The fact that such a large international company like CLARCOR has chosen to lease space in the Grimes Industrial Park is a real testament to the quality of the region’s workforce and location for business.”
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is supporting CLC Air’s $4 million expansion into Pennsylvania through a series of investments including grants, loans and tax credits that total more than $1.6 million.
The Greater Pittston Chamber of Commerce supported the company in its efforts to obtain the investment package from the Department of Community and Economic Development that includes a $1,135,562 loan through the Machinery and Equipment Loan Fund (MELF), a $200,000 grant through the Opportunity Grant Program (OGP), $45,000 in Customized Job Training (CJT) funds, and $300,000 in Job Creation Tax Credits (JCTC).
The project was coordinated by the Governor’s Action Team, The Greater Pittston Chamber of Commerce, and Penn’s Northeast.
