At HVAC Comfortech 2009, 11 products were recognized as Product Showcase Award winners. Judges took into consideration the ease with which HVAC contractors can apply the technology, and the technical value of the product or service to the HVAC industry. We'll feature these products each month in upcoming issues of Contracting Business.com. This month, we're featuring WaterFurnace's Envision NXW chiller, the winner in the Hydronics category. For additional information on any of the products listed here, circle the appropriate number(s) on the reader service card at the back of this issue or visit www.contractingbusiness.com/freeinfo.html.
Envision™ NXW Series from WaterFurnace Now Available in 8- to 20-ton Sizes
The Envision™ NXW series of reversible chillers from WaterFurnace International, Inc., are designed to perform to the highest standards in the industry, sources say. These water-to-water heat pumps provide water heating and cooling for a wide range of applications, including pools, commercial aquariums, radiant floor heating, ice melt, chilled water applications and industrial process water. They also provide precisely heated or cooled water for fan coils and can replace low-efficiency water-cooled chillers and electric boilers.
Units in the NXW series feature quiet dual scroll compressors with phase guard protection, to prevent reverse rotation of the compressors. A sophisticated microprocessor control, with robust safety controls and advanced freeze detection, sequences all components and functions to achieve maximum performance. The control also enables easy connection to a building automation system with N2 Open, BACnet, or LonWorks protocols.
The compact footprint of the NXW Series makes it easy to fit through most doors. All unit frames are constructed of heavy gauge steel channel and include fork truck access pockets in two dimensions, and lifting points for easy maneuvering during installation and servicing.
The unit's brazed plate heat exchangers are constructed with 316 stainless steel for longevity. R-410A refrigerant ensures environmentally-friendly operation, while a compressor blanket and an optional insulated sheet metal cabinet ensure quiet operation. In addition, the unit's fast response lessens system changeover time on two-pipe fan-coil systems.
New 6-& 8-Ton Ducted Fan Coil Unit From Daikin
Daikin's new large ducted fan coil unit can be combined with Daikin's VRV®III and VRV®-WII condensing units to serve larger, more open spaces. It's well-suited for commercial applications, such as large class rooms, hotel ballrooms, offices, and retail shops, sources say.
According to company sources, the introduction of these larger fan coil units eradicates previous ducted product gaps, and will ease installation and reduce equipment costs.
Packaged Pumping Systems Offers 3-Year Parts and Labor Warranty
Packaged Pumping Systems, Melbourne, FL, now offers a three-year standard warranty on all parts and labor for its HVAC packaged pumping systems.
The company received its ETL listing certification in July 2009, after successfully passing all testing performed by Intertek Testing Services, as required by the Underwriters Laboratories (UL) Section 778 for pump systems.
The successful completion of all tests allows Packaged Pumping Systems to label its systems with the ETL Listing mark, and receive full ETL certification and listing for its state-of-the-art packaged pumping systems.
