    Arzel Introduces Evergreen Zoning System
Arzel® Zoning Technology announces the launch of its new Evergreen Zoning™ System, the industry’s first aftermarket zoning product that provides blower speed control based on air flow requirements to each zone, virtually eliminating the need for a bypass damper. The system provides optimum indoor air quantity control for increased indoor air quality, comfort, and energy efficiency.

The Arzel® Evergreen™ Zoning System combines an advanced zone control system with an easy to install replacement multi-speed Electronically Commutated Motor (ECM) to provide enhanced comfort and meet the increasing demands for energy efficient, green solutions. The system uses the world’s first universal ECM aftermarket motor for residential heating and cooling applications. It features patented rotation detection technology and offers dual voltage capabilities for maximum compatibility. The ECM motor works in conjunction with the control panel to facilitate delivery of the right volume of heating or cooling to optimally control room temperature.

Correction from 2010 April AC Guide. The SEER rating for the Frigidaire FS4BI iQ drive was incorrectly listed. The actual SEER rating is 24.5.

The Frigidaire FS4BI iQ Drive air conditioner was awarded a Best Buy award from Consumers Digest magazine in the premium central air conditioners category, a prestigious honor from a third-party consumer advocacy magazine. According to company sources, the iQ Drive air conditioner received the Best Buy designation because of its industry-leading efficiency and sound levels. The iQ Drive is rated up to 24.5 SEER for efficiency and as low as 59 decibels for sound.

The Frigidaire iQ Drive air conditioner uses inverter-driven rotary technology, which is different from traditional air conditioners in that it is almost always running. The unit can modulate anywhere from 40-118% of capacity, instantly adjusting to offset the cooling demands on the home. Because the iQ Drive unit doesn't cycle on and off like a traditional system, it saves energy and considerably reduces sound levels while providing humidity control, sources say. frigidaire.net circle 146

Daikin’s Improved Water Cooled VRV®-WIII Can Be Uses in Geothermal Applications
Daikin AC has introduced the improved VRV®-WIII, a compact water cooled condensing unit designed to provide exceptional energy and cost savings, as well as the ability to operate in geothermal and cooling tower/boiler combination applications. When used in geothermal applications, the relative stability of groundwater temperatures results in optimum system efficiency regardless of outdoor temperature. When applying the VRV-WIII in geothermal configuration, there’s no need for an optional PCB, saving on start up costs and installation time. The VRV-WIII is also remarkably compact. Its lightweight structure and modular concept makes VRV technology the right fit for almost any space, and increases installation flexibility due to the virtually limitless length and height of water piping. daikinac.com circle 147

ClimateMaster, Inc. Announces The New Tranquility® (TAC) Cased Air Coil Series
Tranquility® indoor coils are designed and matched for use with Tranquility® indoor and outdoor geothermal split units. Using EarthPure® HFC-410A refrigerant, the TAC exceeds federal requirements for the 30% tax credit on installation costs when it is paired with a ClimateMaster Tranquility® split unit. Also, when paired with a split, the TAC exceeds ASHRAE 90.1 and Energy Star 3.0 efficiencies.

This series is available in vertical up flow or down flow, and horizontal left or horizontal right airflow. The TAC easily connects to an existing fossil fuel furnace, has large removable access panels for friendly serviceability, and consists of heavy gauge galvanized steel with an attractive grey powder coat finish. Installation advantages include bi-directional thermal expansion valves and it’s fully convertible. Options include an electronic thermostat or an electronic auto-changeover thermostat with 3-stage heat, 2-stage cool, and indicator LEDs. climatemaster.com circle 148

QA Graphics Releases v3.0 of 3D Symbol Library for Building Controls Industry
QA Graphics announces the release of version 3.0 of their 3D symbol library for building automation system (BAS) software.

Version 3.0 of QA Graphics' 3D symbol library is an updated release of the original graphics library, which was developed to operate smoothly within most BAS software. Created with current design techniques, the library provides the equipment and components needed to consistently assemble high-end system graphics, allowing users to spend less time assembling BAS and HVAC graphics and further distinguish themselves in the market, sources say.

New in version 3.0 are a number of new symbols and the enhancement of existing symbols such as removing texture from the ductwork symbols, giving the ability to stretch the graphics, updating cooling tower animations to include fan speeds and adding animations to other symbols. New symbols include a CRAC unit, multi-stack chillers, differential pressure sensors, thermostats, a screw compressor and a variety of miscellaneous interface buttons and icons such as security, alarm, lighting, and interactive symbols.
