Topics include new initiatives to transform buildings
Danfoss, a leading manufacturer of high efficiency electronic and mechanical components and controls for air-conditioning, heating, refrigeration and motion systems, will host its 15th EnVisioneeringSM Symposium June 10 in Washington, D.C.
The symposium, titled “Energy NewBuild,” will join executives in the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) and related industries with leaders in government, science and commercialization to discuss and explore next steps in the dramatic transformation of building efficiency. Participants will consider policy, research and industry initiatives that support this revolution in building efficiency.
The roundtable discussion will include the following topics:
• Policy goals: how emerging U.S. policy affects building efficiency innovation
• Incentives: investment, rebates and depreciation
• Technology research: major new initiatives to transform buildings
• Market implementation: industry transformation of the “first cost” challenge
“Buildings use approximately 40% of the energy consumed in the United States, making discussions like these both timely and critical if we are to move toward a nation of high-performance, energy-efficient buildings,” said Robert Wilkins, president of Danfoss North America.
“Opportunities exist – in the form of government regulation, financial incentives and existing technologies – to impact building efficiency. Our challenge is to recognize these opportunities, understand their implications, advocate for their adoption and apply them in ways that raise standards and improve energy performance," Wilkins said.
The June 10 symposium is the first that Danfoss will host as part of its 2011 EnVisioneering Symposia Series. This is the sixth year that Danfoss has hosted the series since its launch in August 2006 to create an on-going energy dialogue among industry, the policy community and thought leaders in research and development.
