Genteq™, a division of Regal Beloit Corporation, made two major announcements during HVAC Comfortech 2010 in Baltimore, MD.

First, the company introduced the new Eon™ motor as the next generation for the original ECM 2.3 motor. The motor is the flagship in residential HVAC furnaces and air handlers, commercial variable air volume systems and fan filter units. Eon is a lighter, more compact variable speed ECM that is backward compatible with the existing ECM 2.3 motor and fits easily into existing systems.

Using the latest version of ECM Toolbox™, OEM customers can easily create Eon programs from existing ECM 2.3 motor programs utilizing the latest Windows-based software. Genteq has improved the reliability of this motor with a fully potted single control board, additional transient protection (6kV), improved I/O protection and state-of-the-art electronic components. Plus, the onboard memory (BlakBox) will allow OEMs and contractors to monitor real-time performance and provide unprecedented insight to the operation of the motor to maintain peak efficiency.

“Eon sets a new standard in the motor industry with a complete solution combining size, efficiency, reliability, quality and breadth of application," says Paul Selking, a residential HVAC industry leader. "This motor can be used to emulate an ECM 2.3 motor for existing applications or take advantage of the improved airflow performance for new applications."

“OEMs realize a significant improvement in application development with our new automated development tools. Eon will help our customers continue their product evolution to meet consumers’ challenging financial needs and increased regulatory standards,” says Jeff Hall, technical product owner.

    New Service Guide iPhone App
Genteq's new and free iPhone app of its popular ECM Service Guide is expected to launch in October 2010. Many contractors rely on the pocket-sized, spiral-bound ECM Service Guide, keeping it in their coat pockets, tool kits or glove boxes for easy access to information and guidelines that help diagnose, service and optimize Genteq-driven systems. The iPhone app puts all the information in Genteq’s ECM Service Guide at the contractors’ fingertips for quick, ready reference.

“Getting the ECM Service Guide into contractors’ hands as an iPhone app is a logical step to make their jobs easier,” Selking says. “We’re always looking for ways to support the contractors who install and service OEM units that contain Genteq products. iPhone apps are so functional and easy to update that we wanted to provide this app as a resource to contractors.”
