HARDI Profit Report Shows It Was a Very Good Year

HVACR distributors continued five consecutive years of sales growth last year with an 11.5% increase in sales over 2004 according to The Heating, Airconditioning Refrigeration Distributors International (HARDI) 2006 Profit Report.
Pre-tax profit margins also continued their five year climb from 2001’s historical low. 2005’s margin of 3% was a 58% increase from the 1.9% margin of five years ago.
“There are very few wholesale channels in other industries that can say they’ve had five consecutive years of improving margins,” says HARDI Executive
Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Don Frendberg.
“It is also telling that every distributor and every distributor trade association is
100% focused on increasing distributor profitability and yet this is the first time in eight years our industry has seen
3% margins,” Frendberg says.
