    According to the U.S. Census Bureau, privately-owned housing starts in March were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 2,007,000. This is 6.4% above the revised February estimate of 1,887,000, and 15.2% above the March 2003 rate of 1,742,000.

    Single-family housing starts in March 2004 were 1,599,000; this is 5.5% above the February figure of 1,515,000.
