Are you just too busy to take time from work and go to trade shows and seminars? Have no fear: Contracting Business and Contractor magazines will produce six regional HVAC Comfortech events in April and May. The events, which are called the Comfortech Roadshow Series, kick off in San Diego on April 14th.

The idea of these sessions is to provide a local or regional vehicle to help contractors improve the management, sales, and profitability of their businesses. According to Contracting Business Editor-in-Chief Mike Weil, the seminars are broken into two tracks to serve both HVAC and plumbing contractors.

After San Diego, the Roadshow series travels to the following cities: New Haven, CT (April 19th); Chicago, IL (May 3); Ft. Collins, CO (May 18); Portland, OR (May24); and Sacramento, CA (May 26).

Matt Michel, CEO of the Service Roundtable, will be the keynote speaker at each of the events. He'll discuss his "Comanche Marketing" techniques that offer practical marketing ideas that contractors can take home and immediately implement.

Featured speakers in all six cities include industry consultant Ron Smith, Ron Smith Consulting and Coaching, Brentwood, TN; Matt Michel, The Service Roundtable, Flower Mound, TX; and Ron Collier, Collier Consulting Group, Dripping Springs, TX. Popular Contractor magazine columnists Dave Yates, from F.W. Behler, York, PA; and Mark Eatherton, a Denver-based hydronics contractor, will split duties. Yates will appear in San Diego, New Haven, Sacramento and Chicago; Eatherton in Ft. Collins and Portland.

Ron Smith, who is considered the father of the service agreement in the HVAC industry, will share his expertise in setting up, selling, and maintaining service agreements to increase your company's profitability. He'll address both the HVAC and plumbing contractors in separate sessions. Ron Collier will present, "How to Devise and Implement a Performance-Based Pay System in Your Company." Collier's session will also appear in both the HVAC and plumbing tracks.

In addition, Matt Michel will teach a session entitled, "Beyond 13 SEER — What Happens Next?" This session will be only in the HVAC track. Yates and Eatherton will focus only on the plumbing contractors when they present "Adding Hydronics to Your Residential Plumbing Business."

The early-bird price for contractors is $149. After that, the price is $199. Registration includes the keynote speech, breakout sessions, tabletop exhibit area, breakfast, lunch, and a networking cocktail reception.
