ICOR Seminars Focus on Phase-Outs, Retrofits

ICOR International, Inc., Indianapolis, IN, has been presenting a series of training programs to HVACR technicians across the U.S.
The ICARE program (Instructing Customers on Alternative Refrigerants for the Environment) includes a presentation entitled "The Move to HFCs," a two-hour NATE (North American Technical Excellence) certified course focusing on the selection and use of non-ozone depleting refrigerants. ICARE details the CFC and HCFC phase-out timelines and their impact on our industry, the technical aspects of non-ozone depleting HFC refrigerant options currently available, system conversion instructions, and troubleshooting systems that have undergone a refrigerant conversion.
ICOR's newest training program, "Commercial/Industrial Refrigeration Service and Retrofit Considerations," focuses on refrigerant and oil management issues that may be encountered by service technicians before, during, and after retrofit of industrial and commercial refrigeration units.
Recent seminars have been presented to the Chicago Pipe Fitters Union 597; Alcoa Aluminum, Evansville, IN; and The Bick Group, St. Louis, MO.
James McKinney, ICOR's midwest regional business director, has been leading the training. McKinney, an honors graduate of the ITT Technical Institute, has broad experience in the HVACR industry, progressing from service technician to outside sales over 15 years.
