Ken Langer, president, Environmental Market Solutions, Inc. (EMSI), a unit of Carrier Corporation, will be presenting at two green building conferences in Asia this summer: the China Sustainable Building Summit 2009 taking place at the Shanghai New International Expo Center from June 20-July 1, and GreenBuild Asia 2009, beginning July 7 in Hong Kong. EMSI is an environmental and green building consulting company, which has been involved in many high profile commercial projects in China and the United States. Drawing on this experience, Langer will present Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for Existing Buildings (LEED® EB): Profiting in Hard Times at both conferences. The presentation demonstrates how the new U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) rating system is a low-cost way to bring multiple benefits to building owners, including increased building performance, significant cost savings, and the ability to meet environmental and corporate social responsibility targets without the need for large capital investments and external financing.
The China Ministry of Construction will open the China Sustainable Building Summit (CSBS) featuring a Mayors’ Roundtable segment entitled: China Eco Cities Development Landscape, with speakers from the municipal governments of Shanghai, Tianjin, Suzhou, and Huangsha.
