Knauf Insulation and the Greenguard Environmental Institute today announced that Knauf’s air handling insulation products have been certified for superior indoor air quality (IAQ) performance. Knauf had previously received the Greenguard seal of approval for its line of building insulation, and now the company’s air handling insulation products, including Duct Wrap, Duct Board-M and AGM, Duct Liner E-M and Rigid Plenum Liner, are also certified. The Greenguard Environmental Institute (www.greenguard.org) is a leading third-party authority on low-emitting building materials. Greenguard uses a rigorous series of product and facility tests to provide independent assurance of IAQ excellence and compliance with the strictest industry standards on volatile organic chemical (VOC) emissions, including formaldehyde. “Knauf’s air handling products have always been known for their handling characteristics on the job site as well as superior installed performance,” say Bob Britton, Knauf’s president. “We focus on making sure our products perform as specified while making life a little easier for the professional contractor. With Greenguard certification, we’ve cleared the air on another issue that’s important to engineers, architects, building owners and contractors.” Britton also praised Greenguard for taking a comprehensive approach to indoor air quality. Britton asserted, “The great thing about Greenguard is that it certifies products that have a minimal impact on indoor environments with regard to all VOC pollutants, including formaldehyde. “An architect or engineer can specify Greenguard and know they’ve covered the whole range of VOCs. A contractor, building owner or consumer can take one look at the Greenguard Mark on a Knauf package and know that they don’t have to worry about their insulation,” he says. Knauf Insulation is a leading U.S. manufacturer of thermal and acoustical fiber glass insulations for residential, commercial, industrial, OEM and metal building applications.
