Elementary students in Wilson County, TN recently received a visit from Nashville Predators players, the Predators' mascot, and Lochinvar executives, as part of a finale event celebrating the "Stick To Reading = Succeeding" program. The reading incentive program — developed through a partnership with Lochinvar Corporation and the Nashville Predators — rewards students for reading with prizes and events throughout the school year.
The finale event took place on Friday, March 9th at Watertown Elementary in Watertown, TN. Predators players joined more than 600 students for the assembly, acted as captains in the school's Spelling Bee Challenge, and participated in a question and answer session with the students.
With the "Stick To Reading = Succeeding" program, students start to receive prizes after completing five books. For example, students who read five books receive a Predators bookmark; after reading 10 books, students earn player trading cards with fun facts about the players; upon reaching 15 books, participants receive a Predators poster/certificate and a Predators/Lochinvar water bottle. These top achieving students’ names will also be posted on the Predators’ official Web site at www.nashvillepredators.com in April.
Upon the end of the 2006-2007 school year, the program will continue to reach children through local public libraries and summer programs. Predators' coaches, players and mascot will continue to make appearances throughout the summer. These visits help reinforce the power of the program and encourage the children to continue hitting the books.
