The Minnesota Safety Council has awarded a Governor’s Safety Award to Malco Products for excellence in workplace safety and health. The Annandale, Minnesota company is one of 217 employers (out of 503 entrants) who will be recognized at a Governor’s Awards luncheon at the Minneapolis Convention Center on May 11.
Malco Products is a supplier of specialty hand tools and job-site accessories to HVAC technicians, and to installers of residential exteriors in the building trades.
“Workplace injuries and deaths are a personal and company tragedy, and a financial burden that no organizations needs,” says Carol Bufton, president of the Minnesota Safety Council. “Employees like Malco Products understand that a commitment to safety contributes to the health of their employees and their business.”
Malco’s President, Paul Hansen, adds that “As an employee-owned company, everyone at Malco has a personal investment in maintaining a safe working environment. I am proud of our employees’ dedication and our Safety Committee’s leadership.”
The 2007 award is Malco’s third consecutive Governor’s Award for Meritorious Achievement.
Malco’s ongoing safety programs and activities for award consideration included the company’s distinction as one of only 12 employers in the state designated as a MnSHARP (Minnesota Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program) worksite, where safety and health programs of continuous improvement go beyond basic compliance with OSHA standards, and have resulted in immediate and long term prevention of job related injuries and illnesses.
