The Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors-National Association (PHCC) has formed a partnership with the national charity Rebuilding Together to help repair the homes of low-income homeowners around the country. Through this partnership, PHCC will encourage its 3,700 members to volunteer at Rebuilding Together work sites across the country. "Rebuilding Together is the natural extension of what we do," says PHCC President Bill Trombly. "This is an excellent way to give back to the communities that support our members." Rebuilding Together's 250,000 volunteers work in partnership with local community groups and individual and corporate sponsors to rehabilitate the homes of low-income homeowners, typically elderly and disabled residents who want to safely "age in place." Using donated products and services, the volunteers paint, scrape, and clean; replace windows, doors and electrical systems; install heating and plumbing; and perform other repairs. PHCC, the oldest trade organization in the construction industry, has been an advocate for plumbing, heating and cooling contractors since 1883. Rebuilding Together is a national, nonprofit, volunteer organization whose mission is to preserve and revitalize homes and communities, assuring that low-income homeowners, particularly those who are elderly and disabled and families with children live in warmth, safety and independence.
