The Refrigeration Service Engineers Society (RSES), Des Plaines, IL, has announced the names of members who were awarded RSES Active Specialized Member, Certificate Member and Certificate Member Specialist status in March 2009.

The SM category allows RSES members to participate in the society’s Specialist examinations without having passed the Certificate Member examination. SM status is earned by passing one or more of the following eight Specialist examinations available: Commercial Refrigeration; Commercial Air Conditioning; Heating; Controls; Domestic Service; HVACR Electrical; Heat Pumps; and Dynamic Compression. Members with an SM title, who are interested in attaining CMS status, can take a CM examination at anytime. After passing the CM examination their membership status will be upgraded to a CMS.

The following RSES members passed the SM exam in March 2009 and were awarded SM status:
Stanley G. Domel, CMS, of the Austin Chapter, Austin, Texas, passed the SM exam in Heat Pumps; Albert J. Kern, CMS, of the San Gabriel Chapter, Georgetown, Texas, passed the SM exam in Heat Pumps; and Ernesto Reina, SM, of the Garden State Chapter, Colonia, N.J., passed the SM exam in HVACR Electrical.

To become a CM, a RSES member must first pass a rigorous examination that tests the knowledge required to install and service refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.
