Schambaugh & Son Renovates SprinklerSystem for Ft. Wayne FD

    Sept. 26, 2012
Company's Fire Protection Division views work as a life-saving mission.

Shambaugh & Son, Fort Wayne, IN, has restored a sprinkler system for the Fort Wayne, Indiana Fire Department. Working with the Fire Department, Shambaugh’s Fire Protection Division performed comprehensive mechanical upgrades, renovating the existing facility and providing a more efficient sprinkler system. As a result, personnel can continue to be trained, and more effectively, for rescue missions and other life-saving situations.

A leading facilities services and construction contractor in the Midwest, Shambaugh & Son is a subsidiary of EMCOR Group, Inc., a Fortune 500 leader in mechanical and electrical construction, energy infrastructure, and facilities services for a diverse range of businesses.

The work at the Fort Wayne facility involved upgrades to a five-story tower that was built over 30 years ago and is used by firefighters for rescue mission practice in “real life” situations. The building needed these fire protection upgrades to enable the training sessions to continue.

“The highly skilled and experienced professionals in our Fire Protection Division don’t just view themselves as installing mechanical systems in facilities---they feel they are also on a mission to help people save lives,” states Mark Shambaugh, CEO of Shambaugh & Son. “We're very proud of their recent efforts on behalf of the Fort Wayne Fire Department.”

Chris Walker, captain of the Fort Wayne Fire Department, says,“After asking Shambaugh to take a look at what needed to be done to upgrade our facility, we were pleasantly surprised to receive both a scope of work and a commitment to get the job done.”

“It's very rewarding to be able to help our local firefighters gain the skills necessary to ensure the continued safety of citizens and to ultimately save lives," says Nick Sorg, fire protection estimator at Shambaugh.
