Danfoss Issues Call for 2011 ‘EnVisioneer’ Contestants

Danfoss, Baltimore, MD, announced it is accepting applications for its second annual EnVisioneer of the Year award competition.

The competition recognizes U.S. end users, building owners, and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) that have introduced a new product, opened a new facility, or invested in a building or system upgrade in the past 18 months. Winning entries will have incorporated Danfoss products or solutions that have brought about significant energy and/or environmental savings.

Participants may apply no later than April 29, 2011. Entries will be judged by a team of HVACR industry experts.

"Last year's winner, Mars Super Markets, set the bar high with an energy efficiency program that saved the company more than 3 million kWh per year at its retail stores, distribution center and corporate headquarters in Baltimore, MD" says Robert Wilkins, president of Danfoss North America.

"The Mars initiative clearly demonstrated a winning approach to energy efficiency that successfully combined engineering innovation and environmental responsibility."

Mars installed LED lights and used Danfoss anti-sweat heater controls on its refrigeration cases and Danfoss variable-frequency drives on motors that run its heating and cooling systems. To recognize the company's achievement, Danfoss donated $5,000 on behalf of Mars Super Markets to the Alliance to Save Energy, an environmental advocacy group committed to advancing energy efficiency policy in the United States.

Danfoss will make a donation in honor of this year's winner to 'Rebuilding Together,' a leading nonprofit organization that provides renovations and improves the homes of low-income Americans, at no-cost to the homeowners, to make the homes safer, more accessible, and more energy efficient.

The 2011 EnVisioneer of the Year award will be presented during the 15th Danfoss EnVisioneering Symposium, "Efficiency & Economy: Creating a Cost Cutting Energy Efficiency Strategy," in May 2011, Washington, D.C.
