AHR Preview VIDEO: YORK's Magnetic-bearing Centrifugal Chillers

    Dec. 16, 2015
Ratings are available down to a minimum of 36 degrees Fahrenheit (2.2 degrees Celsius) entering condenser water temperature

Johnson Controls expands its YORK magnetic-bearing centrifugal chillers (YMC2) offering to 1,000 tons (3,500 kW) of cooling. With the addition of these higher capacity chillers, the complete range includes units from 165 – 1,000 tons (580 kW to 3,500 kW).

The highly efficient YMC2 chiller offers a lower total cost of ownership over the life of the chiller, thanks to reduced energy and maintenance costs. Designed to achieve real-world energy operation by utilizing industry-leading low entering condenser water temperatures, the YMC2 can offer as low as 0.175 kW/ton at full capacity and below 0.1 kW/ton at part load.

The oil-free design also delivers reliable operation and low maintenance in a wide range of applications.

The 1,000-ton (3,500 kW) chiller joins a broad range of YMC2 chillers that offer these important benefits:

    • Sound levels as low as 70 dBA for quiet operation
    • Superior sustainability supported by R-134a, an efficient, safe and affordable refrigerant
    • Ability to operate with minimum entering condenser water temperatures below the leaving chilled water set point. Ratings are available down to a minimum of 36 degrees Fahrenheit (2.2 degrees Celsius) entering condenser water temperature
    • Flexibility to adapt to system condition changes in unique facilities and exceed cooling needs, even when other system components fall short.
