Carrier i-Vu Pro Building Automation Software Receives BACnet Certification

    Nov. 21, 2013
“Carrier is excited to confirm our commitment to the BACnet protocol and the BACnet community through this certification,” said Mark Jones, business manager, Carrier Controls. “We are proud that the Carrier i-Vu Pro software will carry the BTL mark as an Advanced Operator Workstation."

Carrier i-Vu Pro building automation software is now BACnet Testing Laboratories (BTL) certified. The i-Vu 6 Pro software meets the BACnet Advanced Operator Workstation Software (B-AWS) profile, which means it can be used to configure and commission a BACnet system, and it can also provide advanced network troubleshooting services. Carrier, the world’s leader in high-technology heating, air-conditioning and refrigeration solutions, is a part of UTC Climate, Controls & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp.

BACnet is a data communication protocol for building automation and control networks that allows manufacturers to create interoperable building automation products. BACnet International facilitates the successful use of the BACnet protocol and established BACnet Testing Laboratories to support compliance and interoperability testing activities.

The BACnet Advanced Operator Workstation Software (B-AWS) profile is currently the highest classification for a BACnet Operator Workstation. There are two other profiles: the BACnet Operator Display (B-OD) and the BACnet Operator Workstation (B-OWS). The B-OD enables an operator to view a limited set of BACnet objects and make changes to set points and parameters, while the B-OWS is designed to provide an operator with the information to manage a system on a daily basis. The B-AWS exceeds those capabilities by providing the operator with BACnet tools that go beyond daily operations. These tools aid in the commissioning, reconfiguring and troubleshooting of systems with components that have been supplied by multiple BACnet vendors.

“Carrier is excited to confirm our commitment to the BACnet protocol and the BACnet community through this certification,” said Mark Jones, business manager, Carrier Controls. “We are proud that the Carrier i-Vu Pro software will carry the BTL mark as an Advanced Operator Workstation. This BTL mark shows that the software has undergone rigorous testing to ensure interoperability with other BACnet vendors.”
