First Daikin VRV® Unit Assembled at Daikin Texas Technology Park

Daikin Texas Technology Park (DTTP) is the largest industrial tilt-wall building in the world, and the second largest manufacturing facility in North America.

HOUSTON, January 17, 2017 – Daikin Texas Technology Park — Daikin North America LLC’s new $417 million, 4 million square-foot campus located just outside Northwest Houston — welcomed the first VRV unit off the production line during a celebration led by CEO Takeshi Ebisu. The event was attended by Daikin employees from multiple departments, as well as senior leaders of the company.

In a ceremony that gathered approximately one thousand employees on the factory floor, a deep sense of pride was evident among the audience.

Mr. Ebisu commented, “It is Daikin’s vision to expand production and customers’ awareness of VRV technology in North America. I would like to thank everyone involved in this project, from engineering and manufacturing to logistics, sales and marketing to make this vision possible.”

Daikin VRV technology is not entirely new to North America. Daikin introduced VRV units in 2005 with products imported from Japan and Europe. In February 2014, Daikin was the first HVAC manufacturer to operate assembly lines for VRV outdoor units in North America with limited production in Houston, TX. Now with the opening of Daikin’s new state-of-the-art campus in Waller, TX, the production of current VRV units, as well as the development of new product designs will “increase productivity drastically by 22% and lead time will decrease substantially in order to respond to customer demand,” said Mr. Kou Ishitani, Daikin Senior Vice President of Manufacturing.

“Our vision is to continue to build on a strong and sustainable business foundation as a leading manufacturer in the North American market,” said Mr. Takayuki Inoue, Daikin Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “We aim to earn the respect and trust of our people, customers and the communities we serve,” he concluded.

Daikin Texas Technology Park (DTTP) is the largest industrial tilt-wall building in the world, and the second largest manufacturing facility in North America. Only Boeing’s massive aircraft assembly plant in Everett, WA is larger. The new DTTP campus is the most technologically advanced HVAC manufacturing facility in the United States. When fully operational, DTTP will manufacture Daikin, Goodman®, and Amana® branded products including ducted and ductless HVAC systems for residential and commercial applications.
