    Gowan, Inc. VP Named to Texas AC/R Licensing/Regulation Board

    Mark Wood, Vice President, Contract Operations & Loss Control at Gowan, Inc., was recently appointed to a six-year term on the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Contractors Advisory Board by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

    Mark Wood, vice president, contract operations and loss control at Gowan, Inc., was recently appointed to a six-year term on the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Contractors Advisory Board by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
     
    The function of the Advisory Board is to advise the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation on the adoption of licensing requirements, rules, codes and administration for the practice of air conditioning and refrigeration contracting in the state of Texas. Mr. Wood will serve on the Board until February 1, 2019.
     
    The largest mechanical and sheet metal contractor in Houston, Gowan, Inc. is a subsidiary of EMCOR Group, Inc.,  a Fortune 500 leader in mechanical and electrical construction, industrial and energy infrastructure, and facilities services for a diverse range of businesses.
     
    Wood manages Gowan’s team of more than 600 field and shop employees, whose duties include detailing, purchasing, fabrication, project management, and field construction for major new construction and renovation projects involving piping, plumbing, sheet metal, and HVAC. His career in the Houston mechanical engineering and construction industry spans more than 30 years, including over 17 years with Gowan. He has extensive experience with various aspects of mechanical construction involved in commercial buildings, institutional facilities, commercial and educational campuses, hospitals, central utility and power plants, research facilities, aircraft manufacturing sites, and national defense projects.
     
    Wood earned a bachelor’s degree with honors in civil engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, Texas. He holds professional air conditioning and refrigeration licenses in two states, as well as engineering licenses in several states; additionally, he is a United States Green Building Council LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) accredited professional. He is a senior member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, and a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers; the National Society of Professional Engineers; the American Association of Cost Engineers; and the Construction Industry Council, where he represents the MCAA (Mechanical Contractors Association of America).
