Lochinvar recently released a new online version of its LochSpec Sizing Calculator, which provides a quick and easy solution for sizing commercial water heating systems. Once the user has provided the necessary data, LochSpec uses industry-proven formulas to recommend appropriate Lochinvar equipment options, and provides customized energy savings information for the application.
Users begin by selecting the application type they are interested in sizing, such as an apartment complex, athletic club, car wash, nursing home, office building, school, etc. From there, the user is prompted to provide application details to determine peak demand times, durations and hot water volume. The final step is to input job requirements, which vary depending on the application type. Based on this user input, LochSpec calculates and recommends system options for Lochinvar water heaters, with or without storage tanks. It also provides product specs and an energy savings comparison calculator for each option.
Tate’s In-floor Active Chilled Beams, an energy-efficient perimeter heating and cooling solution, combines the benefits of underfloor air distribution (UFAD) with water heating and cooling efficiencies. It provides the energy savings and capacity of an overhead chilled beam while avoiding potential damage from leaking water lines and condensation. Beams bring chilled water under the floor to cool air at a building’s perimeter, where heat loss and heat gain can significantly impact energy use. These units simplify UFAD design by reducing the amount of equipment under the floor and improve perimeter zone aesthetics by replacing diffusers with a linear grille.
Victaulic continues to advance its patented installation-ready line with the availability of style 107 QuickVic rigid couplings in 10- and 12-in. sizes. According to company sources, the additional sizes give contractors, engineers and owners more opportunities to maximize efficiency by reducing installation time and increasing safety.
The style 107 family of couplings expedites project construction by reducing installation steps and requiring only standard hand tools for assembly. Installation-ready technology from Victaulic features no loose parts and no need to disassemble before installation; the coupling is simply pushed onto the pipe-end as a fully assembled unit, joined by a second pipe-end and tightened. No flame or heat is required for installation, improving jobsite safety.
The rigid design of the coupling, which does not accommodate expansion, contraction or angular deflection, meets industry standards for support. Support and hanging requirements correspond to ASME B31.1 Power Piping Code and ASME B31.9 Building Services Piping Code.

STRATTEC Security Corporation's BOLT locks are now available for the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra. BOLT's patented technology adds security and convenience by only needing the truck ignition key to protect tools, gear and trailers. BOLT locks feature one-key lock technology, which permanently programs the lock to a vehicle's ignition key. When owners insert their ignition key into the BOLT lock cylinder, spring-loaded plate tumblers move up and down to uniquely code the cylinder to that specific key. All BOLT products have a limited lifetime warranty.
With the 2014 Chevy or GMC pickup ignition key, users can access multiple BOLT locks, including the Padlock 2.0, Receiver Lock, Cable Lock and Toolbox Latch, making it practical for vehicle owners with numerous locks on their trucks and trailers.
