UT Electronic Controls Tops $300,000 in Habitat Help

UT Electronic Controls (UTEC), Huntington, IN (a unit of Carrier Corp.), has donated more than $300,000 in cash and equipment to the Huntington County Habitat for Humanity.
Celebrating its 10th home sponsorship and its 10th year of supporting this organization, UT Electronic Controls recently presented a $55,000 check the Habitat affiliate to sponsor the construction of a whole house in Huntington, Ind. UT Electronic Controls is part of Carrier Corp., a unit of United Technologies Corp.
The new home is the Habitat affiliate’s first Energy Star-certified home, designed to meet ecologically sound building standards through the use of recycled materials, renewable resources and energy efficiency.
UTEC helped Habitat launch its Home Management Seminar Program which provides important financial literacy instruction to Habitat homeowners as well as members of the Huntington community.
Construction on the new home will begin on April 28. With a goal to finish the home in 10 days, it will be an “extreme” build, and the quickest ever for a Habitat home in Huntington County. Energy-saving Carrier high-efficiency heating and cooling products will be installed in the home.
