Hey! Branch managers! You have had a challenging year. With wild changes in commodity prices, new regulations, escalating fuel costs, not enough people to get the work done, summer vacations causing service issues and the construction market showing signs of cooling off, you might be feeling a bit stressed.

Need some help? Think Phoenix! My last scheduled workshop for HARDI is Dec. 1-2, 2006, at the Embassy Suites Phoenix Airport. If you've always planned to attend a “Jim Ambrose Business Skills and Leadership Training Workshop for the Branch Manager,” now is the time to do it.

For this December session, I will be launching my 2007 enhanced workshop edition. The top-rated account package management section will now be part of a broader section on “Sales Management.” Participants will receive the workshop version of my new publication on Sales Management to use as a workbook along with their very own “tool kit” to take back to the branch. This Sales Management tool kit will include managing the sales force, account development and how to make a quality joint sales call.

A very important skill necessary to help branch managers win is to have a solid understanding of the numbers and how they end up on your operating statement. I will be launching a new approach and contacting each attendee before the workshop in order to design the Financial Basics and Financial Analysis section. It will contain the specific skill development needs of the workshop group. I'll design the Phoenix workshop specially for you!

I will expand a favorite section of previous attendees, the section on developing leadership skills. This highly rated section teaches managers to engage the people of the branch in cross-functional teams to improve customer service and resolve issues. The expansion now includes the concept of applying lean thinking to the branch and establishing the mini-huddle culture. It will provide the tools for cost productivity improvement while providing your “right customers” what they value. I will provide the workshop workbook version of my publication on the same subject. Attendees will leave with another “tool kit” of their own to take back to the branch and implement this important culture in their business.

I have made some exciting enhancements to the workshop. What I haven't changed is my commitment that we will spend two fast days, working hard, being passionate and dealing with People, Process and Performance exclusively in the world of the branch manager in the wholesale distribution business.

If you want to know what others are saying about their workshop experience, be sure to visit my website, branchmanagerceo.com. Not sure this workshop is right for you or your managers? Feel free to contact me for more information any time at [email protected].

    See you in Phoenix!
