Field Controls

Field Controls has unveiled the newest addition to the Healthy Home System, its IAQ flagship. Four new products have been added to the Fresh Air product line including three heat recovery ventilators (HRV) and one energy recovery ventilator (ERV).

The Field HRV/ERV line ensures fresh air changes up to eight times a day. The Field HRV features a patented aluminum core that keeps outgoing stale air separate from incoming fresh air while tempering the incoming air, reducing heating and cooling costs. The ERV removes humidity from the air before it enters the home, reducing cooling costs. | www.Fieldcontrols.com

Trane

Helping to circulate better air, the Hyperion XL air handler is constructed more like a refrigerator, with insulation between the double walls of the uniquely designed cabinet.

The all-aluminum coil found in this new line of air handlers is exponentially more durable than standard copper coils, which are susceptible to formicary corrosion. The double-walled cabinet eliminates the need for exposed insulation and helps prevent energy loss with the use of airtight plugs instead of conventional knockouts. According to Trane sources, this reduces the unit's carbon footprint and provides a cleaner environment. | www.trane.com

Greenheck

Greenheck's new remote balancing dampers are ideal for applications where tight spaces make it difficult to access and manually adjust the damper and balance airflow. Greenheck remote balancing dampers use a standard RJ11 cable that's run to a phone jack-style plug. The EZ Balance smart controller can then be plugged into the jack to regulate the damper's blade position and balance the system. Two models of Greenheck remote balancing dampers can be specified. Model RDB-10 is a single-blade rectangular balancing damper with a 9-volt actuator kit; Model RBDR-50 is a round balancing damper with a factory mounted 9-volt actuator. Accessories including cable and mounting plates are also available. | www.Greenheck.com

Dynasonics

Dynasonics announces the development of its acoustics information model (AIM) software, which is a free noise prediction tool. AIM is designed to model the amount of noise that reaches individual spaces within a building project through the mechanical systems.

The new Dynasonics software uses sound data projected through HVAC system components, noise control accessories and architectural elements to predict background noise levels. It includes built-in library functionality to allow users to create and maintain databases of acoustic information. | www.dynasonics-acoustics.com

NuTone

NuTone B6 air handlers include 13 and 14 SEER anteater MC micro-channel models. These evaporator coils are constructed of aluminum-extruded tubes that are brazed to enhanced aluminum fins. Because anteater MC coils are all aluminum, they eliminate the copper element in the formicary corrosion combination. This coil design provides water management and thermal performance results equal to standard copper tube-in-fin designs, except with superior resistance to formicary corrosion and galvanic corrosion. | www.nutonehvac.com

MacroAir

MacroAir introduces the new AirStar line of fans. The fans come in 8-, 10- and 12-ft. diameters with a lightweight, streamlined frame and new motor design for quiet operation and low power consumption. The new fan complements MacroAir's existing line of HVLS fans, which provide energy-saving and cost-reducing solutions in air movement. The AirStar line is LEED-certified. | www.Macro-air.com

ZoneFirst

ZoneFirst® introduces the new motorized take-off zone damper, model RT. The RT dampers can be used to provide zone control without running a separate trunk duct for additional zones. The RT damper combines the function of a round duct take-off collar and a motorized damper into one unit, reducing space and cost.

These new dampers combined with ZoneFirst zone control panels provide multiple room-by-room temperature control from one central HVAC unit. Zoning can often be used to eliminate the need for a second unit to provide zoning. | www.Zonefirst.com

Ruskin

Ruskin Rooftop Systems (RRS) provides a supply duct through the return air transition, allowing even airflow on all four sides of the diffuser. Less pressure inside the diffuser box means lower static. The diffuser box is made of aluminum with a double deflection blade design and is completely sealed and insulated. The built-in supply duct and factory-installed turning vanes are exclusive features for RRS concentric diffusers. | www.rooftopsystems.com

Rheem

Available in 7.5-, 10-, 15- and 20-ton sizes, the smartly designed Rheem RHGL series of commercial air handlers feature removable panels on the top and sides of the unit. These removable panels help contractors quickly access the unit's motors, blowers, sheaves and filters for faster, more accurate service.

Additional features of the Rheem RHGL series of commercial air handlers include:

  • Inherently protected motors are mounted inside of an insulated cabinet in order to reduce motor noise to ensure quieter operation.

  • A galvanized steel drain pan is designed to trap condensate in either vertical or horizontal installations. Condensate drain connections are located on both sides of the unit for added convenience. | www.Rheem.com

American Standard

The American Standard Platinum XV Air Handler is constructed more like a refrigerator than a typical air handler, with insulation fully enclosed between double walls of the innovative cabinet design, preventing condensation. In addition to eliminating “sweating,” the cabinet eliminates the loose fibers from fiberglass insulation that could enter the airstream.

The Vortica blower is designed for quiet, efficient operation. The Vortica uses less energy than conventional blowers to deliver more air, while reducing energy consumption, carbon emissions and noise. In addition, the unique cabinet design with double wall construction and enclosed foam insulation provides quiet operation year-after-year. | www.americanstandardair.com

Goodman

Goodman's AVPTC air handler supplies consistent airflow over a range of static pressure conditions, regardless of the duct system. Up to 12 field-selectable airflow settings optimize CFM. ComfortNet communications system compatibility provides auto-configuration of airflow and tonnage.

Its variable speed motor evenly distributes air from room-to-room and floor-to-ceiling, reducing the likelihood of hot and cold spots in the house, compared to single-speed units. | www.Goodmanmfg.com

York

Johnson Controls has expanded its line of York® air handlers with the addition of three new models, each designed to deliver improved efficiency to home comfort systems.

Equipped with a standard, high-efficiency, brushless X-13-style DC electronically commutated motor (ECM), the new MX modular blower extends the York LX Series of heating and cooling products, delivering system efficiency gains in a compact size that helps to ensure ease of installation.

A second addition to the LX Series — the AHE air handler — offers a standard high-efficiency brushless, X-13-style DC ECM, while the new AHR air handler expands the York Latitude® line with a permanent split capacitor (PSC) motor. | www.yorkhvacdealer.com
