• Trane Introduces New Heat Pumps to Provide Dealers and Consumers With Even More Energy-Efficient Offerings

    Aug. 13, 2009
The Trane XR15 heat pump delivers a Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) of up to 16.50 and has a Heating Seasonal Performance Factor (HSPF) of up to 9.0.

For many homeowners, a heat pump is one of the most energy-efficient heating and cooling options available. According to the Department of Energy, heat pumps can provide up to four times the amount of energy they consume. While heat pump sales are not yet ready to assume the leadership position firmly held by air conditioners, they are definitely growing in popularity. According to a leading industry publication, the market share for heat pumps has grown to more than 30 percent and thanks to the energy-efficiency tax credit, sales are likely to increase even more. As an industry leader, Trane is consistently providing its dealers with innovative products to meet the needs of builders, contractors, and consumers alike. Thanks to its two new heat pumps, the Trane XR15 and XB14, there’s a whole new set of options to meet Energy Star® and tax credit requirements.

The Trane XR15 heat pump delivers a Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) of up to 16.50 and has a Heating Seasonal Performance Factor (HSPF) of up to 9.0. The XB14 heat pump has up to a 15 SEER rating, while delivering up to an 8.5 HSPF rating. Both heat pumps are available in 1.5 to 5 ton models and include Climatuff® compressors, Spine Fin™ coils and upgraded fan motors.

“When it comes to providing year-round performance for total home comfort, heat pumps can be a great option for many homeowners, especially those in more moderate climates,” said Gordon Wuthrich, vice president of marketing, Trane. “In today’s environment, everyone is looking for reliability and efficiency. By adding these two new heat pumps to our family of heating and cooling solutions, we’re providing our dealers with another advantage to help their businesses. One of the benefits of a heat pump is that it’s a great option for energy-efficiency because it moves heat instead of generating heat. In addition, by using electricity you can save substantially on fuel consumption, which is great for everyone.”
