Business friends like Brady Trane in Greensboro make teaching HVAC classes more practical and easier for students at Guilford Technical Community College to understand. The students are able to get “hands-on” experiences by working on elaborate equipment donated by the firm.

Brady Trane, a 49-year-old company with five North Carolina locations, also has donated nine scholarships for GTCC students. Students were able to practice this school year on three commercial rooftop units donated by Brady.

“With the gas package units that were graciously donated, our students can see the components of a very popular style of light commercial equipment that we were lacking at GTCC,” said instructor Ryan Johnston. “They also follow the control circuits for a system that utilizes an economizer for low ambient cooling,” he said.

Company president Jim Brady takes a personal interest in the students in the HVAC program.

“We are very proud of these young men and women,” he said. “The program at GTCC is producing qualified graduates that are ready to enter the field,” Brady said.

Brady’s helping students isn’t confined to GTCC. Brady has expanded opportunities for students at other colleges by supporting initiatives to supplement curriculum. This past year, Brady provided scholarships to more than two dozen students across the state. The company also provided internships for students attending N.C. A&T, N.C. State and UNCG.
