EMCOR Group, Inc announced that its EMCOR Government Services subsidiary has received a contract from the United States General Services Administration’s (GSA) Public Buildings Service at the John W. McCormack Federal Building in Boston, MA. This facility will serve as the new home for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) New England, the largest tenant in the building.

Additionally, another EMCOR business, Mechanical Services, Inc. (MSI), Orlando, FL, won the contract to upgrade the HVAC and air handling systems at the Fine Arts Center on the campus of Rollins College in Winter Park, FL.

EMCOR Government Services (EGS) will be responsible for the total operation and maintenance of the John W. McCormack Federal Building.  Scope of work for EGS includes operation and maintenance of the following equipment and systems:  mechanical, plumbing, heating, HVAC systems; fire protection systems; control systems; architectural and structural systems; locks and keycard systems; and management of the building service calls.

The McCormack Building has been undergoing a significant renovation that, once completed, is anticipated will enable the facility to attain a Silver LEED rating by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).  The award to EGS of this assignment was based, in part, on its expertise in servicing and operating LEED facilities and green environments.

MSI will replace the existing, inefficient HVAC systems with new, energy-efficient chilled water air handlers and fan coils in the 11,000 sq.ft. fine arts center. The scope of work also includes stringent cleanliness standards in order to prevent cross contamination between different functional areas of the building. Scheduled for completion in August 2009, in time for Rollins College fall semester, the project will require fast tracking in order to accommodate an aggressive timeline.
