Larry Sambrook, Longtime ACCA Board Member, Dies at 60

Larry Sambrook, a longtime HVAC industry professional and expert
on the Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) Quality Installation (QI)
standard, died suddenly on Thursday, July 30. Sambrook was 60.
Sambrook was a past president of ACCA and a longtime ACCA
board member. Sambrook’s company, Indoor Air Quality Solutions, Staunton, VA,
provided contractors with meaningful solutions to indoor air quality problems.
He was certified to teach IAQ by the American Institute of Respiratory
Education, and was a proctor for North American Technician Excellence, the U.S.
Department of Energy, and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
In addition to serving on the national Board of Directors,
Larry was the current chairman of the ACCA Technical Services Committee, and a
member of several other committees related to standards and emerging
technologies. He also chaired the committee that developed the ACCA System
Cleanliness Standard.
Sambrook served as ACCA's representative to the
Technical Committee of North American Technician Excellence (NATE). He spoke at
many past ACCA events, where he was well known for his sense of humor and his
desire to help.
In addition to his ACCA service and business ventures,
Sambrook was an ex-Coast Guardsman, and a retired police officer of Orange
County, FL.
“Larry was a true embodiment of what makes ACCA great —
passionate, knowledgeable professionals who are happy to connect with others
and share what they've learned. Larry was a valuable member of the ACCA family;
his presence will be missed but his good work created a legacy that will have
impact on the HVACR industry for many years to come,” says Paul
Stalknecht, ACCA president/CEO.
In addition to his wife, Karen, family members include two
sons and a daughter-in-law, Daniel and Lori Corbett and Larry Rivera; three
daughters, Heather and Angel Sambrook and Tracy Elkins and her husband, Eric;
two brothers and a sister-in-law, Dominic Sambrook and Chris and Tish Sambrook;
a sister and brother-in-law, Christie and Mark Lamprey; andfour grandchildren,
Elainah Elkins, Emily Corbett, Zoé DeValiant and Colin Rivera. He was preceded
in death by a son, Steele Sambrook.
A service for Sambrook was held on Monday, August 3.
