Luxaire, Bikers Take to the Road for Make-A-Wish Foundation

Luxaire® recently sponsored the “Ride with Your Heart” motorcycle event in McAllen, TX. The annual event, which raised $25,000, invites participants to drive their motorcycles through the Rio Grande Valley, in support for the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of the Rio Grande Valley.

Proceeds from the event will help grant wishes to five deserving children living with life-threatening medical conditions.

“It’s always heartwarming to witness the enthusiasm of Luxaire dealers and distributors as they join local Make-A-Wish® chapters in fundraising activities,” says Mary Mocarski, Luxaire brand manager. “Local children are the beneficiaries of their generosity, but events like ‘Ride with Your Heart’ also make Luxaire employees across the country proud of the relationship Luxaire has forged with the Make-A-Wish Foundation,” Mocarski says.

Proceeds from the event will help grant wishes to five deserving children living with life-threatening medical conditions.

“Ride with Your Heart” began at a local car dealership, where bikers registered, drew a single playing card and enjoyed breakfast snacks. Following breakfast, they drove their motorcycles to businesses that sponsored the event, collecting another playing card at each location. By the end of the drive, each biker had assembled a poker hand. Following the ride, participants attended an auction, dinner at the local Outback Steakhouse and an awards ceremony. Prizes were awarded to the top three poker hands, the three best bikes and the largest group participant.

The alliance between Luxaire and the Make-A-Wish Foundation began in 2001, and has resulted in donations totaling about $2.2 million.
