Murphy Company Wins SMACNA Safety Award

Murphy Company, St. Louis, MO, has received a second place award for safety from the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association (SMACNA) for more than 500,000 man-hours worked in 2008.

Murphy Company was singled out for one of SMACNA’s highest forms of recognition for safety and health program success. More than 300 contractors participated in this year’s award program. Murphy Company employs more than 1,000 people nationwide, with corporate offices in St. Louis and Denver and regional offices in Fairview Heights, Ill., Colorado Springs, Colo., and Boulder, Colo.

“This award reflects Murphy Company‘s commitment to addressing injuries and incidents in the workplace,” noted 2009 SMACNA President John Ilten. “This award highlights this company’s dedication to achieving even greater levels of safety and health.” 

The SMACNA Safety Excellence Award Program is the annual program that allows SMACNA to track the safety history of the industry and recognize members for outstanding safety performance. SMACNA members who participated in the 2009 SSEAP represent more than 80 million man-hours worked in 2008.

SMACNA, based in Chantilly, VA, is an international trade association representing 4,500 contributing contractor firms, is dedicated to promoting quality and excellence in the sheet metal and air conditioning industry.
