Ingersoll-Rand is introducing New York City to its new Trane High Performance Buildings offer at a unique showcase on Thursday, May 19, 2011.

Trane High Performance Buildings is an outcome-based approach that complements building industry standards and helps owners link the physical environment of a building to a business mission. Trane creates high performance buildings using a unique methodology that combines financial, operating and energy analysis with specialized services and available financing.

“Buildings account for 71% of U.S. electricity consumption,” said Larry G. Wash, president of global services for the Climate Solutions sector of Ingersoll Rand. “Adopting high performance building concepts can reduce energy and operating expenses by 30 to 50% over the course of a building’s life cycle. Just as important, high performance buildings can improve occupant safety, comfort and productivity and help a business achieve its mission.”

Ingersoll Rand is hosting thought leaders from the public and private sectors to explain and demonstrate high performance buildings, and to discuss the financially-driven business case for energy and operating efficiencies at 7:00 a.m. (ET) at the AXA Equitable Building (787 Seventh Avenue, NYC).

The event begins with a presentation by Brian Gardner, editor of business research and publishing for The Economist Group.

Gardner will share results of a 2011 C-level executive study conducted by The Economist called “Unlocking the Benefits of Energy Efficiency: An Executive Dilemma.” The study provides insights into the effectiveness of corporate energy programs, and gaps and executive-level requirements that need to be addressed to achieve success.

Wash will then outline the Trane High Performance Buildings approach and guide a panel discussion called “Industry Insights into High Performance Buildings.”

Following the panel discussion, attendees will tour three locations that are currently on the high performance building journey, and hear remarks from Mark M. MacCracken, PE, LEED-AP, CEO of CALMAC Mfg. Corp and Chairman, U.S. Green Building Council Board of Directors, about the linkage between green buildings and high performance buildings.

Building tours will commence at 10:45 a.m. ET at the AXA Equitable Building (site of the High Performance Buildings program), and then move to TIAA-CREF (730 Third Avenue) and conclude at Rockefeller Center (30 Rockefeller Plaza).
