California Energy Star Program Reserved for NATE C3 Contractors

Article Tools

Southern California Edison (SCE) has given California HVAC contractors one more reason to become certified by North American Technician Excellence (NATE).

SCE's new EnergyStar® Residential Quality Installation program is available only to HVAC contractors who are members of NATE's Consumer Contractor Connection (C3) program.

To be eligible for the NATE C3 program, at least 50% of technicians in an HVAC contracting business must be NATE-certified. The installation parameters of the SCE EnergyStar Residential Quality Installation program are patterned after the ANSI/ACCA 5 QI-2007 — HVAC Quality Installation Specification. Consumers can receive rebates of $750 for 13-SEER units; $1,000 for 14-SEER units; and $1,250 for 15-SEER and above units.

“Southern California Edison is one of our valued partners, and they understand the value of having trained, certified technicians install HVACR equipment,” says Rex Boynton, president of NATE. natex.org
