Article Tools

Glenn C. Hourahan has been appointed as Vice President for Research & Technology for the Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA). Hourahan comes to ACCA from the Air-Conditioning & Refrigeration Institute (ARI), where he served as director of technology. Concurrently, Hourahan also served as vice president for the Air-Conditioning & Refrigeration Technology Institute (ARTI), a nonprofit organization that undertakes HVACR research in the public interest. During the course of his 11 year career with ARI, Hourahan led industry research activities and championed issues related to refrigerants, building air quality, energy conservation, and occupant comfort. Within ARTI, he initiated the "HVACR Research for the 21st Century" (21-CR) program, an industry-government collaboration with a multi-year mission to identify, prioritize, and undertake pre-competitive research to decrease energy consumption and improve indoor air quality. At ACCA, Hourahan will serve as the association's in-house expert on HVACR technical issues, providing service to ACCA contractor members, identifying areas for education and research, and expanding ACCA's presence in the research and HVACR technology communities. ACCA members will have access to Hourahan for answers to their questions related to technology, equipment, installation, and maintenance issues. Hourahan received his undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Connecticut, a Master's of Business Administration from Rensselaer Polytechnic University, and a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering from Johns Hopkins University. He begins his duties with ACCA on July 1.
