MSCA Wants Members to Hitch Their Wagons to a STAR

Article Tools

The Mechanical Service Contractors of America (MSCA) introduced its MSCA STAR Qualified Contractor program during its recent educational conference in Amelia Island, FL.

This program will recognize MSCA contractors who are setting the standard in the mechanical service industry by upholding a strict code of business ethics, employing the best-trained and most qualified workforce, maintaining a superior safety record, offering outstanding customer service and focusing on continuing education for all employees.

“As more and more MSCA contractors become STAR qualified, the higher the bar will be raised for the mechanical service industry as a whole. Customer will begin demanding an MSCA STAR qualified contractor for their jobs to guarantee value, professionalism and efficiency,” says MSCA Chairman Robert Malia.

To qualify as an MSCA STAR contractor, applicants must meet eight criteria:

  • MSCA member in good standing
  • Company or company principals have a proven track record in the HVACR or plumbing service industry
  • 25% of current workforce UA STAR certified
  • Documented company service safety and health program and an outstanding safety record
  • On-going training to both field and in-house employees
  • Truck inventory control system and major tool inventory program
  • Photo identification cards for all field employees
  • Exceptional customer service standards.

MSCA will begin qualifying contractors as MSCA STARs in early 2004. For more information and updates, visit www.mcaa.org/msca/mscastar.
