The Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) has been honored as the recipient of the 2004 Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI) Meritorious Service Award.

The award was presented at ARI's 51st Annual Meeting in Scottsdale, AZ.

The ARI Meritorious Service Award recognizes individuals or organizations that have made significant contributions to the industry in furthering ARI goals. This was the first time in the award’s history that an organization was honored.

Also at the Annual Meeting, Geraud Darnis, president of Carrier Corporation, was elected chairman of ARI's Board of Directors.

Other officers elected at the annual meeting include Debbie Hawkins, president of Superior Coils, who was elected first vice chairman; and David Pannier, president of Residential Systems for Trane, will serve as immediate past chairman.
