Daikin Receives Three Awards

Daikin Industries awarded for social responsibility, good citizenship and environmental conservation

Daikin Industries, Ltd., parent company of  Daikin AC, Carrollton, TX, recently received three awards recognizing the company’s commitment to social responsibility, good citizenship and environmental conservation.  
“It's an honor that Daikin has been recognized globally by these notable organizations. The Daikin Group has established its own statement of corporate responsibility, which serves as a strong foundation as we continue to strive to fulfill our commitments and contribute to sustainable development worldwide,” says Christina Trondsen, Daikin AC’s director of marketing.
The three awards are:

  • The Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World

For the third consecutive year, Daikin Industries has been named to the "Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World" known as the "Global 100".
Launched in 2005, "The Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World" is a project initiated by Corporate Knights Inc. in Canada and the Innovest Strategic Value Advisors Inc. in the U.S.  The two groups select the top 100 most sustainable corporations in the world based on their performance on social, environmental and strategic governance issues.

The Global 100 is announced during the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland in January every year. The list of 100 which included, Daikin Industries, was selected out of 1,800 international corporation candidates.

  • Protection of Ozone Layer and Prevention of Global Warming

The Protection of the Ozone Layer and Prevention of Global Warming. awards were given by the industrial economy newspaper, Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun Ltd., with sponsorship from Japan’s Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Ministry of the Environment.
Daikin Industries was recognized for the construction of a network that centrally manages information for the recovery of fluorocarbons. The network recovers fluorocarbons and even manages the destruction of fluorocarbons after their recovery.  The award also recognizes that the recovery of fluorocarbons is extended into the sales and installation activities of the Daikin Group.

  • The United Nations Global Compact

The United Nations Global Compact presents a unique strategic platform for companies to advance their commitments to sustainability and corporate citizenship. The Global Compact asks companies to embrace, support and enact, within their sphere of influence, a set of core values in the areas of human rights, labor standards, the environment, and anti-corruption.
“The Daikin Group has established its own statement of corporate responsibility, which serves as a strong foundation for our involvement in the United Nations Global Compact. The Daikin Group will strive to fulfill its role and contribute to sustainable development worldwide.” Trondsen says.
