Danfoss Turbocor and Ron Conry — the inventor and founder of Turbocor Compressors — jointly announced today that Conry has launched a new venture to develop new technologies and create solutions for energy generation and conservation.

The newly formed innovation company — Verdicorp — will focus on research and development and the creation of new, cutting-edge products within the energy industry. In the meantime, Conry will continue to serve as a senior technology advisor to Danfoss Turbocor, which he founded in 1994.

“It’s a win-win situation for both Ron and us,” says Ricardo Schneider, president of Danfoss Turbocor. “Danfoss Turbocor is evolving from an entrepreneur to a world-class manufacturer. We will focus on serving our customers and strengthening our product portfolio and position in the comfort and process-cooling OEM business, while Ron is developing breakthrough technologies for the energy generation and conservation market,” Schneider says.

“I’m very excited about exploring other opportunities outside of Danfoss Turbocor, creating innovative solutions in the energy field. At the same time, I’m looking forward to staying in Tallahassee and remaining connected to Danfoss Turbocor,” says Conry.

In 1994, Conry assembled a world-class international team to develop a centrifugal compressor that would be very efficient, operate at high speed, be oil-free, lightweight, quiet, without vibration, and fully integrated and cost-competitive. Developed in Australia, Conry’s concept was then commercialized in Canada. Following the backing of a joint venture with Danfoss, the product that was subsequently developed has achieved global recognition. There are more than 14,000 Turbocor compressors in operation worldwide.
