Emerson Climate Technologies Teams Up to Revamp School’s Environmental Controls Technologies Program

 Emerson Climate Technologies recently partnered with Sabatino Day, and the Upper Valley Joint Vocational School in Piqua, Ohio to revamp the marketing and recruiting efforts for the school’s Environmental Controls Technologies/Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVACR) program.

Together, the teams launched the “Cool School Hot Career” campaign to ignite excitement about the HVACR discipline and ultimately increase enrollment in the Environmental Controls Technologies program. The campaign incorporated student mailers, a newly designed website and promotional items that were intended to show students and parents the opportunities that a rewarding career in the HVACR industry affords, including strong salary potential.

“The recruitment efforts by Sabatino Day and Emerson Climate Technologies have been very beneficial. They developed a theme specific to our HVACR program that was easy for students to recognize, appreciate and relate to,” said Scott Naill, heating and ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration instructor at the Upper Valley JVS in Piqua, Ohio. “The great partnership that we have with Emerson has truly helped us to increase our enrollment, proving that by working together we can achieve great things."

  The Environmental Controls Technologies program enrollment has exceeded initial projections for the 2009-2010 school year. Since working with Sabatino Day and Emerson Climate Technologies on a marketing strategy and campaign for their program, the Environmental Controls Technologies/HVACR enrollment has increased almost 20 percent compared to last year.

The success of the UVJVS Environmental Controls Technologies program and its qualified students and graduates continues to impress local employers as well. "The students we have hired from the UVJVS have a broader understanding of the trade fundamentals and rate higher in technical abilities when compared with other local trade school candidates. The first rate facilities, curriculum and staff at the UVJVS provide us with highly trained candidates to fill our constant need for qualified technicians,” said Mike Marshall, Area Energy & Electric, a local employer of UVJVS students.
