ECR Introduces Freewatt® Plus Home Heating System
Manufactured by ECR, freewatt plus is the second generation, eco-friendly micro combined heat and power (microCHP) system that provides back-up power in the event a home loses power.
Freewatt plus operates using microCHP technology, which uses a Honda engine/generator to generate heat, producing electric power as a by-product. Electricity produced can be used to power the home or be sold back to participating utilities.
In addition to providing back-up capacity if a home loses power, freewatt plus can support the electric utility in times of peak demand by coming on to backfeed the grid. According to company sources, freewatt also has the potential to reduce carbon emissions by up to 6,000lbs.

McQuay Introduces Delivered VAV System for Small to Medium Sized Buildings
McQuay International introduces delivered variable air volume (VAV) systems for consistent room temperature comfort. McQuay’s complete system makes the benefits of VAV simple and affordable for those who own, construct, maintain and occupy small and medium sized buildings, sources say.
For contractors, the delivered VAV systems are fast and easy to install, sources say. Field start-up for an entire building network consisting of two 50-ton rooftops and 20 to 40 VAV boxes can typically be completed in hours and doesn’t require additional software licensing. To save time, the configuration files are created for each unique system and preloaded into the system controller. Application data is loaded and tested, at the factory for the VAV box and air handling unit controllers.
Commissioning process is automated by McQuay’s advanced software and easy-to-use touch screen controller.

Hart & Cooley, Inc. Introduces Unique Electronic Air Cleaner
The SMART EAC electronic air cleaner by Hart & Cooley, Inc. is MERV 16 equivalent with the ability to generate 24,000 volts DC of cleaning power to remove up to 99% of respirable particles from a home's air.
The SMART EAC operates at a low static pressure and has high dust loading potential. This optimizes air flow and can increase blower efficiency. According to company sources, this is the only product of its kind that offers high efficiency filtration without the traditional tradeoffs, such as arcing, ozone generation, and high maintenance.
The SMART EAC is available in a filter grille mount design with 22 sizes, a furnace mount design with cabinet for new installations, and a retrofit track for installations into existing cabinets.
Wago Panel Feed-through Block Uprated to 600V
Wago Corporation’s 828 Series feed-through terminal block is now UL Certified for 600V/40A. This enables the 828 series to provide tool- and maintenance-free, through-panel terminations for control panel applications such as motor control centers, UPS systems and electric vehicle charging stations.
Initially developed for alternative energy inverter systems, the 828 series aids the separation of field-wired power input connections from sensitive electronics by simplifying the passing of conductors through enclosure walls. This creates "sub-panels" where power input connections can be made outside the "protected area" of enclosures or control panels. The 828 series is the sole feed-through terminal block utilizing Cage Clamp® spring pressure connection technology. Terminations are simple: lift the lever, insert a stripped conductor (16-6 AWG) into the termination port and lower the lever.
The single-piece 828 series simplifies panel openings and eliminates alignment issues during panel assembly. To install 828 Series, insert block through a rectangular panel opening and secure to panel via standard locking clip. An exclusive integrated lockout feature accommodates a security seal or tagout marker, preventing unauthorized access to external terminations. A WAGO-exclusive panel gasket seal provides a splash-resistant enclosure seal for additional protection and reliability.
John Guest® USA Offers Speedfit® Pipe Repair Kit
John Guest USA has introduced a new Speedfit® pipe repair kit that provides a method of replacing burst or damaged pipe without altering existing pipe work. Available in ½-in. CTS and ¾-in. CTS, the Speedfit pipe repair kit is easy to install and, like all John Guest products, doesn’t require tools.
The Speedfit pipe repair kit is ideal for use with rigid pipes, which do not allow for movement. The kit can be used with copper, CPVC or PEX pipe.
Also available from John Guest USA is a slip tee connector, which allows the installer to tee off from rigid pipe. The slip tee connector can be used with the pipe repair kit when replacing damaged pipe or when the need arises to add another plumbing branch.
McElroy Releases In-Field Tensile Joint Tester
The new McElroy In-Field Tensile Tester gives contractors the ability to quickly and accurately test high-density polyethylene (HDPE) butt fusion joints in the field. With the in-field tensile tester, a hand-pump system safely tests coupons from pipes sized 2-in. IPS and larger. The in-field tensile tester also incorporates a template that's attached to the pipe to create a coupon with a drill and reciprocating saw. The coupon is then inserted into the hand-pump tensile test unit that performs a destructive test to qualitatively pass or fail the joint.
Greenheck Introduces FEMA Fabricated Steel Grille
