Emerson Climate Technologies, Inc., reports that as of early March, there had been 100,000 downloads of its HVAC Check & Charge mobile app, making it the company’s most popular app. The HVAC Check & Charge mobile app earned honorable mention in the 2014 AHR Expo awards. The app has also been recognized as one of the top 10 apps for skilled trades by IT Business Canada.
The HVAC Check & Charge app provides an on-site refrigerant charge calculator for air conditioning applications. The app allows contractors to easily calculate correct system refrigerant charge for R-22 or R-410A.
To use the app, contractors choose between subcooling, superheat or airflow and enter the specified system temperatures along with the latent sensible environment loads. These settings determine the proper system charge and whether the charge amount needs to be altered based on these conditions.
The HVAC Check & Charge mobile app is part of the Emerson Climate Technologies HVACR Mobile Toolbox. It’s available for free download at emersonclimate.com/mobileapps
Maytag’s all-new iQ Drive air conditioner — the PSA4BG — is an inverter-driven product that reaches 20-SEER cooling efficiency in all matches and is available in 2, 3, 4 and 5 ton capacities.
Sources report the inverter-driven rotary compressor technology in this model allows it to modulate between 49% and 118% of capacity in five steps making constant, small adjustments. This way, the unit is able to exactly offset the cooling demands of your home while maintaining superior home comfort levels. This method of operation results in lower noise levels – all the way down to 59 dBA.
Maytag also reports that installation of this iQ Drive air conditioner has been simplified. It’s compatible with any two-stage thermostat and it does not require a shielded thermostat cable. The unit also includes an all-aluminum Micro-Channel condenser coil for corrosion resistance, optimized heat transfer and increased reliability.
The 20-SEER air conditioning system joins the other inverter-driven systems in the iQ Drive line. This includes the PSH4BG 19-SEER/10-HSPF heat pump and the PPG2GI 20-SEER/81%-AFUE gas/electric packaged system.
RectorSeal Corp. has introduced the MicroV ductless mini-split air-conditioner condensate pump. The company says it combines the industry’s quietest-running Silent+ technology with a univolt power supply and labor-saving ‘plug-and-play’ power/communication connection cable.
The violet color-coded MicroV is ideal for mini-split condensate management applications requiring compactness, high capacity and low noise. The powerful pump removes 3.8-gallons/hr of evaporator drain pan condensate on all minisplit brands ranging up to 66,000-BTU or 5.5-tons.
A leading wholesale frozen food company upgraded its existing refrigeration plant with the installation of a low charge, air cooled Azane freezer by Star Refrigeration Co. The company supply the food service industry with a comprehensive range of fresh, frozen and grocery products. The existing refrigeration system was in poor condition and was expensive to run – both in terms of energy cost and maintenance cost. An AF70 Azanefreezer plant, was installed as a replacement for the existing 40-year-old equipment. Sources say the high-performance Azanefreezer has a range of eco-friendly benefits, including a low ammonia charge. Topping the list of benefits is the Azanefreezer’s capacity to reduce the freezer system ammonia charge from an estimated 5,000 pounds to just 360 pounds. The air cooled Azanefreezer is available in a range of capacities from 25TR to 100TR. All feature high efficiency EC condenser fan technology and fully integrated PLC control to ensure maximum efficiency at all times.
UV Resources, a leader in ultraviolet-C equipment for HVACR systems, recently unveiled a new website and sizing app, designed to streamline the selection of ultraviolet irradiation devices. The free downloadable app is designed to help anyone properly size and source fixtures for UV-C applications.
The easy-to-use UV Select sizing App (available for both Android and IOS systems) uses project specific measurements to generate UV-C fixturing recommendations that best comply with ASHRAE guidelines for Ultraviolet Surface Treatment.
This week's roundup of new products for HVACR contractors from Emerson Climate Technologies, Inc., Maytag, RectorSeal Corp., Star Refrigeration Co, and UV Resources.
