A. O. Smith Electrical Products Company has introduced a new line of inverter duty condenser fan replacement motors for commercial air conditioning and refrigeration markets.
According to A.O. Smith, many retailers are now retrofitting inverters to their existing air conditioning and refrigeration equipment to reduce the motors' energy consumption. They are discovering, however, that the existing OEM motors cannot hold up to the strain that the inverter places on the motors, resulting in premature failures.
The new line of motors, called JuggerNaut, is the first in the industry designed to hold up to the rigorous demands inverters place on motors, the company says.
Features include:
- Inverter Duty - Corona Free with conductive bearing grease for reliable use with today’s inverters
- Class F Insulation - for 70°C (158°F) maximum ambient conditions
- VCM – A. O. Smith's own unique quick connect “Voltage Change Module”
- Removable Rigid Base - Easy to remove 56H rigid base provides for either rigid base or belly band mounting.
The use of conductive bearing grease shields the bearings from arcing damage caused by inverter usage, and each JuggerNaut motor is tested on a proprietary CIV tester that employs a unique procedure to detect and measure corona for every JuggerNaut motor before that motor leaves the factory.
These energy-efficient, three phase motors are capable of reversible rotation and with A. O. Smith’s own Voltage Change Module (VCM) changing between 230 and 460 volt connections is now quick and easy.
Each JuggerNaut motor incorporates a special removable 56H rigid base to add flexibility in mounting options, allowing the service contractor to have the correct motor on hand and reduce inventory carrying costs.
