Calmac announced CEO Mark MacCracken has been selected as chair of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) Board of Directors for the 2011 calendar year. MacCracken is also serving as director in the Energy Services Seat.
“The old way of thinking has always been, ‘How can we build bigger, faster, cheaper?’ At the USGBC, our goal is to build better,” said Rick Fedrizzi, President, CEO & Founding Chair of USGBC. “Our Board of Directors represents the best in sustainability leadership. This engaged and dedicated group reflects the diversity of the rapidly growing market that we serve, and is committed to shaping the future of green building.”
“The USGBC is looking forward to another year of tremendous progress as sustainability continues to be critical for our nation and the world. We are transforming the way we build, and with that comes a lot of excitement for the industry,” said MacCracken. “By lowering the environmental impact of buildings and communities through the LEED green building program, we can make a huge impact in the built environment. Certifying a million square feet a day in 2010 is a clear sign of market transformation. But we need to do more. A lot more.”
