Uponor — formerly Uponor Wirsbo — hosted its largest Home Comfort Team Convention (HCT), April 27-29 in Las Vegas, NV. Approximately 250 contractors from 33 different states and the District of Columbia attended the 2006 HCT Convention, the fourth such gathering, which is held every two years by Uponor.
with an intensive day and a half of attendee roundtable discussions, formal workshops and a trade show, followed by a full day of recreation. Hosted by John Barba, UNA training and development consultant, the business side of the convention offered presentations by both key company personnel and outside business consultants.
Industry columnist and consultant Ellen Rohr taught them how to manage, compensate and hold onto good employees. Industry consultant and radiant expert Robert Bean showed them how to sell radiant and who their target audience really is.
Decision Analyst’s Garry Upton presented numerous statistics from his research company regarding homeowner satisfaction with their home comfort systems and the contractors they hire to install them. Motivational speaker and business consultant Dr. Tony Alessandra taught them how to identify the personality style of their customers, and use that information to be a more effective business person.
A new twist for this year’s meeting was the announcement of the winners of the first annual Uponor Dream Home Contest, which recognized the most impressive Uponor installation in a residential application.
PBS TV “Hometime” show host Dean Johnson presented the grand prize to John Palacek of Smart Solutions Inc., Kamiah, ID. Palacek will receive a guest spot on “Hometime.”
The other finalists were Steve Murray of Northwest Mechanical Inc., Shoreline, WA, and Dan Foley of Foley Mechanical, Inc., Alexandria, VA.
