Johnson Controls recently conducted two advanced training programs for eligible territory managers.
A "Special Operations" boot camp was held October 22—27, and an "Advanced Intelligence" boot camp was held November 6—10.
The camps are provided to territory managers who work with distributors and dealers representing the York, Luxaire, and Coleman brands of HVAC equipment manufactured by Johnson Controls.
The Special Operations boot camp attracted 17 territory managers who completed the Basic Training boot camp, scored at least an 85 percent for their final grade in that camp and spent six months in the field following completion of the basic training program. The invitation-only camp included one day of program reviews and four days of HVAC contractor case study analysis. Gary Elekes, professional business trainer and faculty member with York Business Training University (BTU), provided most of the instruction for the camp. He was joined by Mike Simpson, manager, distributor development; Mickey Smith, York brand manager; Walt Jacobe, commercial products marketing manager; and Renae’ Turnbaugh, Source 1™ marketing manager, for Johnson Controls.
Eric Aldredge of Climatic Comfort Products LLC, Columbia, SC, earned the highest combined quiz and final exam scores among the territory managers who attended the camp and received a $500 gift card to Best Buy.
First runner-up Michael Sysak, territory manager with Florida Air Conditioning Distributors, Sarasota, Fla., received an iPod Nano.
To qualify for the "Advanced Intelligence" boot camp, the newest addition to the boot camp training program, territory managers must complete the Special Operations course with a grade of at least 90 percent and spend six months in the field following completion of the second level boot camp.
