The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) installed new officers and directors at its 2002 Annual Meeting held in Honolulu June 22-26. The new ASHRAE president is Donald Colliver, Ph.D., P.E., Fellow ASHRAE, an associate professor at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY. As ASHRAE's president, Colliver directs the Society's Board of Directors and oversees the Executive Committee. In choosing his theme for this year, Building A Better World, Colliver said, "We must build on our successes and use our passion to take us to the next level. We must set goals that have a higher purpose." ASHRAE will address energy, environment, education and empowerment to achieve goals set by Dr. Colliver during the year he serves. Ivesdal, retired district general manager for Honeywell, Home and Building Control in Kansas City, MO • Vice president: Kent Peterson, P.E., a principal and chief mechanical engineer for P2S Engineering Inc. in Long Beach, CA • Vice president: Terry Townsend, Ph.D., P.E., Fellow ASHRAE, president of Townsend Engineering Inc. in Chattanooga, TN.
